3 killed, 7 injured in shooting at U.S. Idaho restaurant

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and seven others injured in a shooting Saturday at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, a city in the U.S. state of Idaho, said local officials.

Some of the injured were in critical condition, according to Joshua Palmer, public information coordinator for the city.

Police found the body of the suspected shooter in an area near the restaurant, Palmer said. It was not immediately clear whether the suspected shooter was included in the reported death toll.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks told a news conference that police believed the threat to the community was over. Authorities were still working to determine the identity of the suspected shooter and the motive behind the shooting.

The shooting occurred at around 2 p.m. local time (2000 GMT) at the restaurant, which is located in a busy shopping plaza. Hundreds of people were in the area at the time, said Palmer.

Authorities had not released the names, ages or other information about the victims as they continued notifying their families. The investigation remains ongoing.
