China firmly opposes U.S. overstretching concept of national security: spokesperson

BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) -- China firmly opposes U.S. overstretching the concept of national security and going after Chinese companies, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday.

Mao made the remarks at a regular press briefing when answering a query about the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's ban on imports of humanoid robots on grounds of national security.

Mao said that protectionism does not make the U.S. more competitive and will only hurt the interests of U.S. companies and consumers, adding that China will continue to do what is necessary to firmly defend the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies.
