Cambodian fresh durian exports to China skyrocket: agriculture spokesperson

PHNOM PENH, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian fresh durian exports to China skyrocketed following direct market access approval and improved overland logistics, an agriculture spokesperson said on Sunday.
Khim Finan, an undersecretary of state and spokesperson of Cambodia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), said that the kingdom exported 5,738 tons of fresh durian to China between January and July 2026.
The figures highlighted a major increase since China approved direct imports in July 2025, he said.
"This achievement stems from MAFF efforts to open a new overland route from Cambodia to China through Laos," Finan said in a post on Facebook. "The land route cuts transit times to five days, down from 15 to 20 days by sea."
