Once-isolated village in SE China's Fujian emerges as a model of rural revitalization

"Xiadang township has been transformed into a model of rural life and a window showcasing the achievements of rural revitalization," said Wu Guanqian, secretary of the Party committee in Xiadang township, Shouning county, Ningde city, southeast China's Fujian Province. The township was once the only one in the province without a road, tap water, electric lighting, fiscal revenue, or even a government office.

In recent years, Shouning county has introduced a model in Xiadang township that brings together the Party branch, Party members, and local residents. Under this system, Party members are encouraged to participate in public welfare and industrial projects, and pair with households to provide targeted support. They also guide villagers on industry, rural development, and governance, and promote collaborative construction and shared benefits.
