SHANGHAI, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. automaker Tesla produced more than 2,000 commercial Megapack energy storage battery systems in 2025 at its Shanghai Megafactory, a facility dedicated to manufacturing energy-storage batteries.
According to the company, most of the Megapacks were produced for export, with shipments reaching markets including Europe and Australia.
Located in the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the facility officially entered production in February 2025.
The Megafactory is the company's second major facility in Shanghai and the first of its kind outside the United States, showcasing the company's deepening investment in China.
Previously, Tesla built its Shanghai Gigafactory, the company's first plant China's eastern financial hub, in 2019.
