PLA conducts regional patrol, aerial confrontation drills in airspace near Taiwan

NANJING, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command is conducting drills on regional patrol, aerial confrontation, and information support in the airspace to the southwest of Taiwan Island on Monday.

Fighters, airborne early warning aircraft, electronic warfare aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles are deployed to conduct the drills, the theater command said in a statement.

The drills are intended to test the forces' capabilities of multi-type aircraft coordination and seizing air superiority, it added.
