Paintings, calligraphy works from Fujian, Taiwan exhibited in Taipei

TAIPEI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition showcasing the painting, calligraphy and seal-carving works of about 50 artists from Taiwan and Fujian Province opened on Monday in Taipei.

The paintings on display are mostly traditional Chinese works, covering a wide range of subjects, such as people and iconic landscapes in Taiwan and the Chinese mainland.

Kuo Ching-chang, chairman of the Cross-Strait Association of Image Art, which was one of the organizers, said the event is the second Fujian-Taiwan art exchange exhibition titled "Ink and Brush -- Shared Bonds of Home," following the first, which was held in Fujian in 2023.

The word "home" is used in the exhibition's title to show that people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one family, he said.

Tsai Chieh-teng, dean of the Department of Painting and Calligraphy Arts at the Taiwan University of Arts and the exhibition's curator, said the exhibition serves as a platform for exchange among artists and art enthusiasts from both sides of the Strait.

The event aims to promote deeper humanistic dialogue and youth exchange through the arts of calligraphy and painting, laying a solid foundation for future cultural interaction, according to the Cross-Strait Association of Image Art.

The exhibition is on show at the China University of Science and Technology in Taipei and runs through Jan. 9, 2026.
