China's top legislature schedules session for December

BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, will hold its 19th session in Beijing from Dec. 22 to 27.
This decision was made on Monday during a meeting of the Council of Chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, which was presided over by Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.
According to the proposed session agenda, a draft law on childcare services and another on activities and environmental protection in Antarctica will be submitted to the session for the first time.
Also on the agenda will be a draft environmental code, a draft law aimed at promoting ethnic unity and progress, a draft law on national development planning, and draft revisions to the foreign trade law, among others.
The lawmakers will also review a draft decision concerning the fourth session of the 14th NPC, a report on the rectification of problems discovered through auditing central budget execution and other fiscal revenues and expenditures for 2024, a report on NPC deputy qualifications, and bills on personnel appointments and removals.
