Tibetan Opera is one of Xizang Autonomous Region's oldest performing arts. It weaves together myth, legend, folk songs, dance, storytelling, acrobatics and ritual music into a single art tradition. Deeply connected to everyday life, Tibetan Opera remains central to festivals, religious ceremonies and local customs. In 2009, UNESCO inscribed it on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.
