A picture of a woman bathing in a human-sized pothole in the middle of a road in Thailand's Trat province recently went viral, the local media reported. Meanwhile, the photo's backstory has been circulating, gathering support for the woman's cause of improving road conditions.
Because of recent torrential rains in Thailand, road conditions in some regions have deteriorated, causing serious inconvenience for many citizens. In the hope that local authorities would agree to fix the roads, the 25-year-old launched a unique "bath protest."
After the photos went viral, local authorities did indeed state that they would allocate funds to repair the roads. In light of this success, another woman from Chaiyaphum province took similar measures to call attention to the road conditions in her hometown. She received a positive response as well.
