MOSCOW, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The efforts of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to strengthen Party discipline and improve governance offer valuable insights for political parties around the world, Dmitry Novikov, deputy chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), told Xinhua.

The fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC opened in Beijing on Monday, with a draft decision on some major issues concerning strengthening full and rigorous Party self-governance with perseverance for consideration.

Novikov, also first deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs and deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, said the CPC strives to advance the interests of the people. Against this backdrop, the CPC's practice of self-reform merits close attention and offers a valuable reference for political parties with similar goals, he said.

"A disciplined Party means a strong, rapidly developing country and a cohesive society that is not torn apart by internal divisions. It means hope and a point of reference for all the peoples of the Global South," Novikov said.

He added that the CPC's emphasis on self-reform carries great significance, as it enables the Party to root out undesirable practices and address potential risks at an early stage.

Novikov stressed that strengthening self-discipline and internal oversight is not an end in itself for the CPC. Rather, the Party's fundamental task is to strengthen ties between governance and society, thereby consolidating public trust in state institutions.

"Power must be exercised to serve the people, rather than for personal gain or corporate interests. The CPC's experience is undoubtedly of historical importance. All political parties that claim to represent working people must study the practices of Chinese communists and adapt them to their respective national conditions," he said.

Novikov said that China's development is closely connected with global trends and that its goals are not at odds with the interests of people in other countries, noting that they are rooted in the principles of equality in international relations, cooperation, peaceful coexistence and the fair settlement of conflicts.

Novikov added that the CPRF closely follows the CPC's experience in Party building. "We are convinced that the uncompromising fight against bureaucracy, opportunism and complacency offers an important example for our comrades in other countries," he said.

"Politics can and must be clean, responsible and result-driven. The CPC's experience proves this. That is precisely why it has drawn worldwide attention," Novikov said.
