A parade celebrating the harvest was held in Ximeng Wa Autonomous County, Pu'er, southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Oct. 3, 2026. Local residents of various ethnic groups and visitors from across the country gathered for the celebration.
The participants creatively incorporated autumn crops, including rice, corn, pumpkins and bananas, into their costumes, combining golden rice ears, vines, leaves and wild plants to create distinctive outfits inspired by nature. With traditional ethnic totems painted on their faces, and ears of grain and fresh produce adorning their bodies, the performers brought the bountiful autumn harvest to life through their costumes.
Centered on the theme of a golden harvest, the parade also attracted many visitors, who painted ethnic totems on their faces and joined the procession to experience the cultural traditions of the Wa people firsthand.
"People used garlic, chili peppers, fruits and leaves to make creative costumes," said Su Wenjia, a visitor from Kunming. "It was so much fun! We sang and danced along with the parade and truly felt the local communities' love for a better life."
