China's top diplomat meets Jordanian counterpart

BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Beijing on Sunday.
Wang told Safadi, who is accompanying King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein on a visit to China, that the King's visit will be a complete success.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China appreciates Jordan's firm commitment to a friendly policy toward China and its adherence to the one-China principle, and will continue to support Jordan in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Jordan is an important country in the Middle East, and China will continue to support Jordan in playing a positive role on the Palestinian question and other regional issues, he said.
Safadi expressed gratitude to China for the hospitality extended during the King's visit, saying that Jordan attaches great importance to its relations with China and is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields.
Jordan appreciates China's positive and responsible role on Middle East issues, especially its firm support for the two-state solution to the Palestinian question, Safadi said.
