China allocates funds for typhoon-triggered flood relief in three provinces
BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese authorities on Thursday earmarked 80 million yuan (about 11.8 million U.S. dollars) from the central natural disaster relief funds to support flood and geological disaster relief efforts in three provinces.
The funds, jointly allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management, will be used for emergency response and rescue work in central provinces of Henan and Hubei, as well as Anhui Province in east China, following the impact of Typhoon Dolphin, the 13th typhoon of the year.
Due to the remnant impact of Dolphin, parts of the Huanghuai, Jianghan and Jianghuai regions were battered by heavy rainfall, which caused severe flooding and geological disasters.
The funds will be mainly used for emergency rescue and relief operations, including the rescue and relocation of affected residents, hazard elimination and risk mitigation, and restoration of damaged and collapsed homes.
