Mission Unlock | Ep 3: How a daily commute can change a life
Editor's Note:
"Mission Unlock" uses real stories and everyday scenes to explain the development logic behind China's 15th Five-Year Plan. Through stories of industry, people and lived experience, it offers global audiences a more relatable, accessible look at China's next stage of development.
In Episode 3 of "Mission Unlock," Mina travels to Trinidad and Tobago to reassess a cooperation project initially flagged for its low economic returns.
Through her friend Sarah, who now has easier access to health care, an improved study environment and a shorter daily commute thanks to the project, Mina comes to understand that the true value of cooperation cannot be measured by numbers alone. It is also reflected in more time with family, greater opportunities and tangible improvements in everyday life.
The outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) calls for improving the mechanisms for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and deepening "hard connectivity" in infrastructure, "soft connectivity" in rules and standards, and "people-to-people connectivity" with partner countries.
Looking ahead to 2030, high-quality cooperation must deliver more than economic returns. Ultimately, it should improve people's well-being. Every enduring partnership has the potential to brighten everyday lives and bring people closer together.
