BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- China has decided to tighten controls on the export of drone-related dual-use items to the United States, the Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday.

This measure has been taken to safeguard national security and interests, and to fulfill international obligations including non-proliferation, the ministry noted.

Exports of drones, their key components, and related technologies that are included in the country's dual-use export control list will be subject to rigorous case-by-case review when destined for the United States. Such exports will not be eligible for license facilitation measures.

This announcement takes effect on Aug. 5.
