Israeli missile strike kills 8 soldiers, injures 7 in Syria's Daraa: Syrian military
DAMASCUS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Eight Syrian military personnel were killed and seven wounded Wednesday in the southern province of Daraa by an Israeli missile attack, the Syrian army said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Israeli assault was launched at approximately 1:45 a.m. local time (2245 GMT) from the direction of the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, targeting military installations in the countryside of Daraa.
The strike also inflicted material losses in the targeted positions.
This comes amid growing tension in the region against the backdrop of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas' surprise attack on Oct. 7.
Since then, Israel has attacked Syria's Aleppo airport three times and Damascus airport twice.
Syria has strongly condemned the Israeli attacks.
