BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Wednesday met with Boris Kollar, speaker of the Slovak National Council, in Beijing.

Han said that the traditional friendship between China and Slovakia has seen steady development, and that exchanges and cooperation in various fields have grown constantly.

China is ready to work with Slovakia to carry forward the friendship, consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, uphold mutual respect and mutual trust, treat each other as equals, achieve win-win results, and properly accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns to create a sound political atmosphere for the sustained and healthy development of bilateral ties, Han said.

He called on both sides to continue deepening cooperation, enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and working together to promote the sound and steady development of relations between China and the European Union, as well as China-Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) cooperation. He also briefed the Slovak side on China's economic and social development.

Kollar said that Slovakia attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China and hopes to strengthen bilateral cooperation on the economy, culture, people's livelihoods, transportation, logistics and other fields, and to deepen exchanges between the two legislatures to improve bilateral relations.
