On the morning of October 11, the Changsha Municipal People's Government and the Continental Group held a signing ceremony for an all-round cooperation project. It aims to cooperate on smart city’s innovation and demonstration construction. Hu Henghua, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Standing Committee member and CPC Changsha Municipal Committee secretary, and Tang En, president and CEO of Continental China, attended. Other city leaders, Xu Hongyuan, Zhang Yingchun, Xia Jianping, Li Xiaohong, and Qiu Jixing also attended.

Founded in Hannover, Germany in 1871, Continental Group ranked 206th in the world's top 500 in 2018. It is the world's fourth largest tire manufacturer and one of the top five auto parts suppliers in the world. It ranked among the top three in automotive electronics manufacturing.

At the ceremony, the Continental Group signed an agreement with the Changsha Municipal People's Government, the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, and the Changsha Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee respectively. According to the agreement, the Changsha Municipal People's Government will cooperate with the Continental Group to carry out smart city’s innovation and demonstration construction. It will help build Changsha into a modern regional smart city with international influence. Hunan Xiangjiang New Area will cooperate with the Continental Group in smart city construction and intelligent travel in five fields, including intelligent system test area, “Xiangjiang Intelligent Valley·Artificial Intelligence Technology City”, self-driving bus, industrial fund, and government-industry-research cooperation. At the same time, the Continental Group will invest in the construction of a central electronic factory project in Changsha Economic Development Zone and Changsha County. It will be the 28th industrial investment project established by the company in China.
