The production process of Liuyang fireworks is one of the Han nationality’s traditional handicrafts. Liuyang fireworks are also a traditional specialty and one of the major exporting products of Hunan province. Liuyang fireworks have forged an indissoluble bond with the old customs of China. Whenever there is a folk event or traditional festival or celebration, people will turn to letting off fireworks.

Liuyang Fireworks use handmade paper, potassium nitrate, sulfur, carbon powder, and red clay, all of which are raw materials locally obtained. The production of the fireworks involves a total of 12 flows and 72 work processes.
