Creating Civilized City

In 2016, Guangzhou carried forward the creation of civilized city, the cultivation of the citizen’s high ideological and moral standards, the nurturing of the new fashion of civilized society and the establishment of a new front online for civilized conduct, further improving the moral standards of the citizens and the civilization of the city. Guangzhou’s effort to create a National Civilized City was supported by 99.81% of the citizens and 97.37% were satisfied with the local campaign to create the National Civilized City, according to a poll conducted in 2016.

Setting Up Models for Civilized Conduct

The city has set up many models on civilized conduct to guide citizens in upholding the core values and further promoting the positive energy of the society. In 2016, the city saw 9 persons being selected as “Good Samaritans of China”, 17 as “Good Samaritans of Guangdong” and 200 as “Good Samaritans of Guangzhou”.

Promoting Civilized Conduct

In 2016, Guangzhou kicked off various activities extensively at traditional Chinese festivals, highlighting the theme of “Our Festival”; launched more than 5,000 sessions (times) of standardized “Moral Conduct Lectures” at regular intervals, which attracted over 1 million person-times of audience and carried out over 800 sessions (times) of activities to promote civilized traffic at urban/rural grassroots units.

Holding the ground of Civilization Promotion

In 2016, Guangzhou boasted 1,106 municipal class civilized communities, civilized villages/towns and civilized units, 91 provincial class civilized communities, civilized villages/towns and civilized units as well as 6 national civilized villages/towns and 17 national civilized units.

Boosting the Development of Civilization Carriers

In 2016, the micro-blog of “Guangzhou Civilization Website” released over 4,200 pieces of information and its official blog received 2.59 million person-times of visitors; the “Civilized Guangzhou” webchat public account displayed growing influence, becoming the information-sharing platform for nearly 20 new media outlets promoting civilized conduct as well as nearly 3 million fans.
