On June 17, the first edition of Hubei's 100 "Most Beautiful Place Names" was unveiled.

Xiangyang's 11 place names were on the list: Xiangyang and Yicheng were listed among the "Oldest Place Names", Migongci among the "Most Humanistic Place Names", Gulongzhong and Paifangcun (Xiangcheng District) among the "Most Traditional Place Names", Taohuadao and Yueliangwan among the "Most Poetic Place Names", Miejiangdaozi (Xiangcheng District) and Xiaoshugang (Xiangzhou District) among the "Most Nostalgic Place Names", Xianrendu (Laohekou) among the "Most Vivid Place Names" and Guimenguan (Gucheng County) among the "Most Humorous Place Names".
