
The world’s largest capacity semi-submersible drilling rig “Bluewhale I” built by China International Marine Containers was delivered in Yantai, east China’s Shandong province on February 13, 2017.

The Semi-Submersible rig is built on a rig design owned by Frigstad Engineering Inc. It is 117 meters long, 92.7 meters wide and 118 meters tall. The maximum depth of operation is 3658 meters and the maximum drilling depth is 15,240 meters, which makes it the worlds’ most efficient as well as the largest capacity semi-submersible drilling rig.
