From 2011 till now, about 40 Asian elephants have come to Kangping Town and Zhengdong Town and other such regions within the border of Jiangcheng County. They mainly eat corns, Chinese bananas and other such crops for food.
It is reported that in recent years for ecological protection Pu’er City has formulated and released a series of measures and methods to protect elephants and other wild animals. Meanwhile, it has also built an “Elephant Cafeteria” for those animals. Pu’er City has already become a happy home for wild Asian elephants.
