A large “thermometer” was set up in the streets of Shenyang, Liaoning province on Dec. 5, creating a splendid night view and attracting the notice of many residents.
The 18-story thermometer, which is set against the facade of a building, was placed in the street for the convenience of the public. Its indicator is made of LED modulator tubes rather than mercury, and its lights are connected to meteorological instruments.
The instruments transfer real-time temperature data to the temperature sensor in the form of electric energy, which is in turn converted into brightness. The higher the temperature and energy levels are, the brighter the tubes shine.
