Handan, city in north China’s Hebei province, got its first 3D zebra crossing for the pedestrians about a month ago. The crossing that appears to be elevated will signal drivers to stop and allow people walk across the road safely.

The zebra crossing has an optical illusion that looks three dimensional when viewed from a distance. It aims to grab the attention of the drivers and eventually slow down their speed.

Traffic police said the number of traffic accidents occurred in the intersection where the 3D zebra crossing was installed have been significantly reduced from the month before.
