Zhaoshu Island is located in the northwest of Qilianyu Islands, Sansha city, China's southern most Hainan province. About 70 households with more than 200 people live on the island and most of them are fishermen.
Since Sansha was officially established in 2012, people's lives on Zhaoshu Island have significantly improved with the construction of a power station, a seawater desalination plant and a road running around the island.
