Wildlife monitors from the Beijing Shanshui Nature Conservation Center have captured on video for the first time the courtship and mating rituals of snow leopards.
The footage was recorded on April 24 by the Lancang River in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, in northwestern China's Qinghai province.
The wildlife experts have been monitoring about 13 snow leopards and three leopards in an area of 300 square kilometers. For the first time, they have proved the habitat overlap of the two animals in the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau.
In addition, they also captured images of many other animals including lynx, brown bears, white-lipped deer, otters, blue sheep, wolves and red foxes.
