Xi says China willing to jointly promote ties with Vietnam

HANOI, Jan. 29 -- China is willing to join hands with Vietnam to promote their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China(CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping said.

Vietnamese party chief Nguyen Phu Trong met with Xi's special envoy Song Tao in Vietnam's capital of Hanoi on Friday.

During the meeting, Song extended Xi's congratulations to Trong on his re-election as general secretary of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Song, who is also head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, also conveyed Xi's message that China is ready to work together with Vietnam to develop their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a sustained, stable and healthy manner, thus contributing to peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region.

Xi also expressed his belief in the message that under the leadership of the CPV, Vietnam will make new achievements in its cause of socialism building and innovation.

Trong, for his part, said the Vietnam side is willing to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship with China.

Vietnam will work with China to push forward the cause of socialism and maintain regional peace and development, said the Vietnamese party chief.

Song said China will work with Vietnam to jointly implement consensus reached by the two party chiefs, strengthen strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation, expand people-to-people exchanges, and enhance communication and coordination in regional and international affairs.
