Botanists in England have created a dual-cropping plant that can produce both eggplants and potatoes in the same pot for the first time.
The plant, named “Egg and Chips” grows eggplants from its stem and potatoes from its roots. Experts have experimented with over 20 varieties of eggplants before one was selected based on its size and performance. According to Michael Perry, the product development manager, eggplants produced by the new plant are less bitter than the normal varieties.

The “Egg and Chips” plants are now available by mail order from the British seed company Thompson & Morgan.
