The Third East-West Philanthropists Summit jointly held by China Global Philanthropy Institute and East-West Centre marked a successful ending on January 9, 2016, in Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S. The three-day event gathered nearly 100 philanthropists from all over the world, including the Rockefeller family, Bill Gates, and one of China’s most influential philanthropists Niu Gensheng. This marks a leap forward in China-U.S. cooperation in the field of philanthropy.

The topics discussed covered climate change, environment pollution, poverty, hunger, widespread contagious diseases, and other challenges the international community are faced with.
Rich people need to shoulder greater responsibility, remarked Wang Zhenyao at the summit, who is the President of China Global Philanthropy Institute. Wang emphasized that the continuing communication and cooperation between Chinese philanthropists and their American counterparts is a must in tackling the said challenges.

President of East-West Centre Charles E. Morrison accentuated leadership and cooperation, saying that America has attracted a lot of social resources, and will use the resources to work on the philanthropy enterprise.
