"The Indonesian side has no territorial claim to China's Nansha Islands, and the Chinese side has no objection to Indonesia's sovereignty over the Natuna islands", said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei in a regular press conference on Thursday.
Indonesia's security chief Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan claimed that Indonesia could take China to an international court, if dialogues could not resolve disputes over waters off Natuna Islands.
In response to this, Hong said that China would stay committed to peacefully resolving disputes over territory and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea.
“China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership is making steady and sound progress. We hope to make joint efforts with the Indonesian side to keep advancing the bilateral relationship,” Hong added.
