"Dad, please don’t divorce mum……if mum is gone, at least you’re still with me," 11-year-old Sichuan girl Xiaoxia wrote to her father. Her mother developed uremia three years ago, and relies on dialysis to stay alive. Her father has been supporting the whole family, but has recently wanted to divorce her, making Xiaoxia feel very sad.

Xiaoxia decided to write a letter to her father to persuade him not to divorce. Xiaoxia said she hesitated for a long time before deciding to write the letter. “I must make sure my father reads the letter.” Xiaoxia is a “left-behind child”, left in the care of her grandparents after her parents moved to the city to find work. After reading the letter, her father said he never would have expected that his daughter would write such words to him.

The text of the letter:Dear father, how have you been recently? I really miss you. I didn’t do well in recent exam, and I hope you won’t go mad. Grandpa’s heath is getting worse. I’m not a little girl anymore and I think you are wrong to divorce mum. So please don’t divorce mum. If mother is gone, at least you’re still with me.
“Mum once told me if I see stars blinking, it means she is missing me,” said Xiaoxia. In the dark of night she always tells the stars about her happiness and sadness.
