Couriers choose to ride horses to deliver numerous packages ordered by people during the “Double 11” shopping festival in Hohhot, the capital city of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region in North China, as the city’s new traffic regulation released last month bans all electric tricycles on road, according to cnr.cn.
With yellow banners in hand, riding big horses in the city, these couriers soon become a big hit on the internet as netizens took their pictures and posted on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
According to the manager of the online shopping store Sunning, these horses are summoned from a pasture to help couriers to deliver packages more swiftly during the Chinese shopping spree.
This year, Chinese consumers spent 10 billion yuan on Alibaba’s Tmall online shopping platform in only 12 minutes 28 seconds. It is expected that the sales will reach more than 86 billion yuan at the end of the day.
