‪‎Macao‬ Customs Service Director Lai Minhua has been confirmed dead on October 30, 2015, said Chief Executive of Macao Cui Shian during a press conference on the same day.

The cause of death remained unknown, but initial investigation pointed to suicide.

Police received a report in the afternoon of October 30 that a female body was found in a public toilet in Ocean Gardens in Macao. The body was later proved to be that of Lai Minhua.

Commission Against Corruption of Macau reported no involvement of Lai Minhua in any case under investigation.

There was no conspicuous suicidal sign shown by Lai Minhua. She was to attend a security meeting this very afternoon.

Cui Shian expressed his sorrow and regret over the death, saying that Lai was an enthusiastic and devoted officer.
