Oct.15, 2015 is the 35th World Food Day.

Food security is always a vital issue which is related to national economic development, social harmony and stability, national security and independence.

"From 2004 to 2015, the grain production in China has increased for 12 consecutive years, which is a miracle in China's and even the world's food history. The grain output in 2014 reached 607.1 million tons, an increase of 0.9 percent. It is predicted that the grain output in 2015 will reach 620 million tons, representing an increase of 1.76 percent. China's grain production has realized absolutely substantial increase," said Hong Tao, the director of Commercial Economic Research Institute of Beijing Technology and Business University.

China is a big food producer and consumer, and the enaction of the Food Law is an urgent demand.

The relationship between government and market should be balanced in legislation. The decisive role of market should be made clear. Good market order of food production and circulation should be guaranteed. The Food Law should focus on the strategic food development instead of food production only.
