According to Pu'er Daily, Yunnan Pu'er Tea Trading Center (or the Center for short) was set up on September 14, 2015, in Pu'er City. Wei Xing, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Pu'er City, and Yan Zesong, General Manager of Shenzhen Shenbao Industrial Co., Ltd (or Shenbao for short), attended the ceremony held to mark the opening of the Center and delivered speeches.

Secretary Wei offered his congratulations on the Center's establishment in Pu'er City. Secretary Wei said that building the Center was an important step in Pu'er City's ongoing effort to enhance the value of Pu'er tea as a brand and accelerate the transformation of the Pu'er tea industry. By building the trading center, Pu'er City will be able to treat Pu'er tea like a financial product, enable anybody having Pu'er tea goods on hand to get letters of credit from banks and obtain much-needed loans, and trade in such goods as futures, which will help transform Pu'er tea into something that can be used as a financial product or some sort of a currency and make it into a real product in which people can make investment; as a result, the standards of the Pu'er tea industry and the value of Pu'er tea as a brand will be elevated, the transformation of the industry promoted, and its full-chain development realized, he said.

Shenbao is the only listed company in China to specialize in produce, which boasts real strength in tea marketing and has a great reputation as a famous brand and a socially responsible business, while Pu'er City enjoys considerable advantages in and huge potential for tea planting; if Shenbao and Pu'er City cooperate closely, it will give a big boost to the Pu'er tea industry's effort to grow bigger and stronger, he added.

According to General Manager Yan, in collaborating to set up a Pu'er tea electronic commerce platform in Pu'er City, Shenbao and Pu'er City will not only take the lead in transforming China's traditional agriculture into a modernized agriculture characterized by information technology application, standardization, and brand-oriented operations, but also set the trend toward high-end products among unique agricultural product producers.

According to sources, the Center will build one trading platform and four function centers for Yunnan Province's tea industry and even China's by building on the Internet, using modern commodity trading technology and an advanced logistics system as the basis for development, collaborating with financial, quality inspection, and authoritative industry institutions, and offering a number of value-added services, including those designed to raise funds for people hoping to borrow money by using their goods on hand as a pledge, enable people to invest in high-end tea products or store them away as collector's items, and provide professional consulting and authoritative appraisal services. The one trading platform mentioned herein will be a fair, open, orderly, efficient multifunction electronic trading platform, while the four function centers will be the "Tea Trading Center of China," the "Tea Investment & Fundraising Center of China," the "Tea Grading & Appraisal Center of China," and the "Tea Customization Center of China." The Center will help diversify the entire value chain of the tea industry, thereby providing greater space for its development.
