The average per mu yield of the hundred-mu rice field in “Super Hybrid Rice Gejiu demonstration base” in Gejiu, Yunnan province reaches 1067.5 kilograms, setting a new world record, according to China News Service.
The Ministry of Science and Technology organized an inspection team made of experts from Academy of Agricultural Sciences, University, and research institutes. They came to Gejiu to inspect the yield of the cultivation base on Sep. 17.
The team randomly selected three test plots from the 102-mu rice field and worked out per mu yield of 1067.5 kilogram after strict calculation.
The yield not only broke the record of per mu yield of China’s hundred-mu rice field but also set a record in the world, said Zheng Jiakui, head of the inspection team and expert from the Ministry of Agriculture.
