Recently, in a pet shop in Australia, three young men assaulted the Chinese employees. A woman from China was injured. The incident has resulted in an outcry in the community of overseas Chinese. Many Chinese living in Australia protested with the slogan: "This time you give up the protest, you'll probably be the next one who gets beaten."

"Although we are getting stronger economically, we still lack the respect internationally," said Ling Jiang, an overseas Chinese. "We Chinese should no longer swallow any insult, but stand up together to defend our rights, so that our future generations will no longer be discriminated and what we have suffered today will not be repeated."

The Chinese have always been fighting for their rights. In San Diego, California, police used an anti-Chinese cartoon during a recent training. The local Chinese have expressed vehement protest. In Malaysia, the Chinese women who stay in the country for marriage are often discriminated. The duration of their visa is very short. To fight against the similar discrimination, the Chinese in Malaysia have established an online group which strives to help the Chinese wives to have a better life in Malaysia.
