Image of dragon-shaped river captured

An entry posted by the Weibo account of Tiangongzhiyan went viral on Tuesday.

It reads: (We) just saw with the infrared hyperspetral imaging a huge dragon-like pattern on the main stream of the Luanhe River at the junction of Chengde and Tangshan, in northern China's Hebei province. And (we) will present this "Chinese dragon" as a gift to the motherland. Wish her a happy birthday!

Although the entry was posted in last year, it gets popular very quickly among Chinese netizens again as China will celebrate its National Day on Oct. 1.

In the image, the river is like a huge dragon, similar with the description of the mythology.

The image is claimed to be captured by infrared hyperspetral imaging of the Tiangong-1, China's first space lab, but it has not yet be confirmed.

It is reported that the water temperature is higher than that of the surrounding mountains at night, therefore the river shows bright color in the infrared image.

Live rat caught in aircraft from Helsinki to Chongqing

A live rat was caught in a plane flying from Helsinki of Finland to Chongqing on Sept. 3. It was captured by the local quarantine staff, according to CCTV news on Sept. 15.

Live mice pose great threat to aircraft. They can spread diseases such as plague and cause flight delay and forced landing. Once the mice chew off the lines on the plane, it will pose threat to the safety of the aircraft, and even cause air crash. Chongqing Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau started quarantine procedure to capture the rat and disinfect the aircraft.

After all the crew member and passengers got off the plane, a total of 58 powder blocks , 15 rat bait, 200 rat glue traps and eight cages were placed in the cabin and warehouse. And the rat was found stuck on one of the traps on the following day.

After identification, there is no parasite found on the body of the female rat, and pathogen detection is negative. But it remains unknown how the rat went on the plane.
