In China, the world’s biggest outbound tourism market, women are more willing to travel abroad than men, stated a report issued on Monday.

The report titled "Market Research Report on Chinese Outbound Tourist Consumption (2014-2015)," was released by World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF).

The report said that among all outbound travelers, women account for 58.5 percent, 17 percent higher than men, adding that shopping is a must-have on their agenda.

Last year, the number of outbound Chinese tourist trips reached 109 million, up by 11 percent from the previous year while accounting for 9.58 percent of international tourists.

People who were born after 1980 has the largest share of outbound tourists, with a portion of 44.89 percent, followed by those born after 1970, with a portion of 25.72 percent.

The two groups account for 70 percent of outbound tourists, most of whom are well educated, married and have minor children, so their outbound trips are aimed at broadening perspectives.

The number of post-90s outbound tourists exceeds the post-50s and post-60s groups respectively.

Chinese outbound tourists gradually spend more on tourism. 41.59 percent of Chinese tourists will take out 20 percent of the total living expenses for travel. Shopping is still Chinese tourists’ main expenditure abroad.

43.99 percent of Chinese outbound tourists said that raising the proportion of tax refund and discount will attract them to outbound tourism.

Chinese tourists prefer route arrangement including shopping malls, outlets and downtown duty-free store. They like to buy luxury goods in Europe, souvenirs in African cities, and cosmetics in Japan and South Korea.
