China Mobile has launched its 2015-2016 optical fiber and cable purchase, which includes 94.5 million core kilometers of G.652 optical fiber, 88.5 million core kilometers of optical cable, 6.6 million core kilometers of non-frame ribbon cable and 3.1 million core kilometers of frame ribbon cable, according to news released by  the company.

Last year, China Mobile purchased over 60 million core kilometers of optical fiber. The new purchase plan will set a new record. Counting provincial level purchase in, the optical fiber purchase of China Mobile will easily exceed 100 million core kilometers, accounting for 30 percent of the world total.

The connecting lines between China Mobile's 3G base stations and 4G base stations are transferring from copper cable to optical cable, which results in a large demand of optical fiber. Last year, China Mobile newly established 700,000 4G base stations, making it the world largest optical fiber and cable buyer.
