GUANGZHOU, Aug. 5 -- The death toll from a collapsed structure in south China's Guangdong Province rose to four after the body of another victim was found, local authorities said.
The body was retrieved at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday after the bodies of three other victims were found, said a statement from the government of Shunde District, Foshan City, where the accident occurred on Monday afternoon.
The collapse occurred at a construction site for a three-storey steel structure. It trapped five workers, with one safely rescued, the statement said.
An initial investigation showed the construction was an illegal project by a local home furnishing company. Police detained two foremen and the proprietor.
