
WUHAN, May 29 -- An operational error during demolition caused the collapse of an old three-storey post office building on Friday evening in central China's Hubei Province, local authorities said.
The accident happened at about 6:05 p.m. at Jiefang Road, Fancheng District in Xiangyang City. The collapsed building served as an office of the municipal post office and was awaiting demolition.
An operational error happened when workers were dismantling a nearby eight-storey building, causing the three-storey building collapse, according to a Fancheng district government statement.
Two vehicles that belonged to the demolition company as well as several street lamps and billboards were damaged in the collapse. No casualties were reported at the scene.
