

Colombian model Juliana Lopez was arrested during a trip to China for allegedly carrying drugs in her computer and is now facing the death penalty, the NY Daily News reports on July 29.
The 22-year-old Juliana Lopez, the beauty pageant winner, was apprehended at Guangzhou airport on July 18 and is being charges with smuggling psychoactive drugs in her computer. It is punishable by life in prison or the death penalty in China.
The beauty was scheduled to compete in the Miss World Medellin pageant last week but is instead sitting in a Chinese prison. Her family desperately tries to raise funds to cover Lopez's legal costs.
During the trip, Lopez's family lost contact with her for a few days and contacted the embassy in China which recently confirmed her arrest.
