KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 3 -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Malaysia and attend the ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting from Aug. 4 to 7 at the invitation of Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman.

The 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting starts on Tuesday, drawing foreign ministers and representatives from 10 Southeast Asian countries and ASEAN's dialogue partners including China and the United States.

A series of related meetings will also be held following the foreign ministers' meeting, namely the Post Ministerial Conferences, the 16th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the 5th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers Meeting and the 22nd ASEAN Regional Forum.

A total of 27 countries will be involved in the series of meetings.

The establishment of the ASEAN Community and progress on the ASEAN Community's Post-2015 Vision, among other regional issues, will be discussed at the annual foreign ministerial meeting, as the ten-member bloc is looking to create a common economic, political-security and socio-cultural region by the end of this year.

The Post Ministerial Conference Session with the dialogue partners will discuss mainly the current status of the dialogue relations and its future direction, and participants will also exchange views on international and regional issues.

At the 16th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which is set to open on Aug. 6, foreign ministers of ASEAN and those of China, Japan and South Korea are expected to discuss various areas of cooperation between the 13 countries, including enhancing trade and economic relations, progress towards the conclusion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement as well as collaborating on the projects under the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity.

ASEAN, established in 1967, comprises 10 Southeast Asian countries -- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
