JINAN, July 8 -- A spotted deer gifted from Taiwan to the Chinese mainland delivered a fawn at a national park in east China's Shandong Province on Tuesday.

The deer, Dian Dian, delivered her fifth litter since moving from Taiwan to Liugongdao National Forest Park in Weihai city in 2011.

The little fawn was able to stand up and move within an hour after birth. It was healthy and has already met the public, staff from the park said.

A pair of endangered Sika deer, Fan Xing and Dian Dian, arrived at the park on April 16, 2011 as gifts from Taiwan. Prior to this birth, they delivered four fawns, named Jing Jing, Liang Liang, Tian Tian and Meng Meng.

Fan Xing and Dian Dian were originally from the Taipei Zoo and were regarded as "goodwill messengers" from across the Taiwan Strait.
