After seven years of restoration work, the Dazu Thousand-hand Bodhisattva was opened to tourists again in southwest China's Chongqing on June 13, 2015. The statue has regained its resplendent look, which stands in sharp contrast to its shabby appearance before the restoration.
Built in the South Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the Dazu Thousand-hand Bodhisattva is the biggest statue carved out of a cliff in China. It is also a listed world cultural heritage.
