BEIJING, May 30 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to Andrzej Duda on his election as Poland's new president, vowing to boost cooperation between the two countries.

In the message, Xi said Poland was one of the first countries that established diplomatic relations with new China.

He said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 66 years ago, the two countries have continued deepening mutual political trust, achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields like economy and trade, and conducted increasingly active people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation.

China and Poland have also kept sound communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, he added.

Xi said China, which has always viewed and developed its relations with Poland from a strategic and long-term perspective, is willing to deepen the connotation of the two countries' strategic partnership.

"I attach great importance to the development of China-Poland relations, and am willing to make concerted efforts with you to promote the traditional friendship between the two peoples and boost mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, so as to better benefit the two countries and peoples," the president said.

The Polish National Election Commission on Monday announced the official results of Sunday's presidential elections, which showed Duda received 51.55 percent in the second round of votes in the presidential election.

Duda, of the Law and Justice Party, will assume the presidency in August.
