BEIJING, May 28 (People’s Daily Online) -- If you enjoyed last year’s Dutch Days in Beijing, you are in for a pleasant surprise. After a successful debut in the capital last September, the Dutch Days are back. From May 28 till June 13, participants will be treated to various events to a taste of Holland, with Dutch food and culture.

Dutch Days are organized annually by the Netherlands network in China. Since the first kick off in Shanghai in 2013, eight other editions have also been held in Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Wuhan and other Chinese cities.

A theme of the Dutch Days this year will be food and agriculture. The Netherlands believes that healthy and safe food begins with sustainable agriculture, great concern for animal welfare and minimizing food waste.

The Dutch Touch Food Festival from May 27 till June 7 at the Marriott Northeast Hotel will provide the visitors with Dutch cuisine. Specially prepared lunches and dinners by Dutch Michelin star chef Karl van Baggem will be served during this period. Parents can enjoy the special Sunday brunches, while their children play with the world’s favorite Dutch rabbit Miffy in the children’s corner.

Icons of Dutch design exemplify the country’s typical strengths: pragmatic, open-minded, conceptual, out-of-the-box, and adhering to the principle ‘less is more’. People can experience this first hand during the Embassy Open Day on June 5th and the Pecha Kucha Night at the Dutch Ambassador’s Residence on June 3rd, with the topic: ‘Orange Innovation – Active Transformation’.

There are many other special activities during the Dutch Days Beijing, including the film screening of Ni Hao Holland at the embassy on June 10, which follows the adventures of two Chinese girls travelling to the Netherlands for the first time; and the photo lecture on Dutch museums on June 13 at the National Museum of China, given by Chen Lyusheng, deputy director of the museum and a photographer.
